North Wales Police and Denbighshire County Council have worked in partnership to secure a dispersal area along the promenade in Rhyl, following persistent incidents of anti-social behaviour.
The area covers the whole of Rhyl promenade from Splash Point to the Voryd Bridge and includes Marine Lake. The restrictions will come into place at 6am on Sunday 9 May 2010 and last for a period of 6 months.
Denbighshire’s Maritime Regeneration and Development Officer, Stuart Thomas said, “The dispersal order was granted after members of the public have been intimidated, harassed, alarmed or distressed on numerous occasions by the presence or behaviour of two or more people and anti-social behaviour is a significant and persistent problem in the area. This order demonstrates Denbighshire’s commitment to reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour.”
Inspector Dyfan Jones of North Wales Police said, “We’ve listened to the public and we know that alcohol related anti-social behaviour is a major concern. It affects people’s quality of life and their perception of the town. I’m confident that, working together with Denbighshire County Council, we will have a positive and lasting impact on this issue.”
The dispersal area at Morley Road gardens has been renewed to reflect the same dates and time as the promenade dispersal area.
