The Welsh National Diving Display Tour was a great success as it reached Bangor Swimming Pool on Saturday 27 November.
Over 150 people attended the event which included one of Britain’s best diving teams, The Harrogate Diving Club, as well as some of Bangor Swimming Pool’s talented young divers.
The divers gave a great display, and it was a fantastic way to promote diving in Wales, and especially here in Gwynedd. Bangor’s young divers were also lucky enough to meet talented individuals, including Oliver Dingley, a finalist in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
David Glyn Davies, Gwynedd Council’s Aquatic Development Officer, said:
“This event was a huge boost to diving here in Gwynedd. We had a great display by some of the country’s best divers and everybody was pleased with the high standard.
“Bangor’s young divers had the opportunity to have a one to one lesson from the British coach, Damian Ball, and from the Harrogate divers. It was a chance for the young local crew to show their talents as well as learn skills from experts in the field.
“We now look forward to the next event in 2011, as well as continue to hold weekly diving lessons in Bangor Swimming Pool.”
Bangor Swimming Pool’s diving boards are open daily to the public and the aim is to start new diving classes in the new year. For further information contact Dyfed Glyn Davies, Gwynedd Council’s Aquatic Development Officer on 01286 677983.
