Do you love where you live? Then why not enter our outstanding environmental awards!
Entries are flooding in to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council for the second annual “Love Where You Live” Awards and there’s still plenty of time for your project to be in with the chance of winning a top prize.
The scheme rewards individuals, businesses, schools or local communities throughout the county borough that have introduced positive, inspiring and beneficial changes to the environment. These can be through a whole range of activities, from major improvements to the amount of waste that is recycled to the best-kept community.
If individuals know of anyone that they feel deserves an award, then they can enter them for the competition. These can also be supplemented by reports, photographs or press cuttings.
There are 13 categories for the competition and there is no limit on the amount of different categories each applicant enters.

- Best Environmental Service Team of the Year
- School Environmental Champion (Pupil)
- School Environmental Champion (Teacher)

- Local Authority Environmental Champion
- Business Award
- Best Kept Community
- People Award
Entering the Love Where You Live Awards can be done simply by filling in a short entry form that must be submitted by Wednesday March 31st 2010. Applications will be placed before an independent panel of judges. The chosen finalists will be visited during May before the overall winner of each category is decided.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held at the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd on Monday June 14th 2010.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Frontline Services Cllr Anthony Christopher said: “With only a month to go before the closing date, members of the public still have plenty of time to enter nominations for this year’s Love Where You Live Awards.
“Last year’s awards were an outstanding success and once again placed the county borough at the very forefront of innovative and inspiring environmental projects. We look forward to improving on this again with the forthcoming awards and encourage everyone to consider entering their scheme before the end of March.”
