Downing Street Visit Proves ‘Positive’, says Montgomeryshire AM

Russell_GeorgeMontgomeryshire Assembly Member, Russell George, joined his Welsh Conservative Group colleagues for their annual meeting with the Prime Minister in Downing Street and he said the discussions were ‘extremely positive’.

There were a number of issues on the agenda which the AM was pleased the Prime Minister addressed, which  included Mid and North Wales transport links, renewable energy and the economy.

The Prime Minister told Mr George that MP, Glyn Davies, regularly kept him up to date regarding onshore wind development in Montgomeryshire but was grateful to the AM for once again raising the concerns of local communities affected.

Commenting after the meeting, Mr George said:

“This was an extremely positive meeting for us in Mid Wales.

“I was pleased the Prime Minister once again took the time to listen to the important concerns of Mid Wales regarding onshore wind development and the Connection Project, as well as the need to improve transport links to boost the economy.

“The Prime Minister did confirm that the UK as a whole had now met its renewable energy targets for onshore wind, which I thought was a reassuring signal to those on both side of the debate.”
