Dr Hywel Ffiaidd is back! Welsh stalwarts and members of the establishment, beware – because the man himself is returning to the stage on Thursday evening with a brand new show written especially for Maes C – and no one is safe…
Politics, the media, Wales itself – nothing is sacred as far as the Dr is concerned, and they’ll all get a mention in the ‘Heb flewyn ar fy nhafod’ show in Maes C this year – and he’ll be saying it how it is and how he sees it.
From the very start, it’s obvious that the risqué humour and the talent are still there and the witty writing will grab the audience’s attention. This may not be a family show, but anyone coming to Maes C with an open mind – and a sense of humour – will have the time of their lives!
Dr Hywel Ffiaidd’s cabaret show entertained audiences across Wales for years at the end of the seventies and the beginning of the eighties, and this is the first full show to be created since then.
This is the only full performance by Dr Hywel Ffiaidd during Eisteddfod week this year, and tickets are already selling well, so book your tickets soon to ensure your seat in one of the Eisteddfod’s big events. This show will undoubtedly create a great deal of discussion during the week – with prominent people guessing whether they’ll be mentioned in the show, some of them heaving a great sigh of relief on Friday morning, whilst others will be less happy – and some will even ask ‘Why wasn’t I in it?’!
Guto Brychan, Maes C organiser said, “It was time to resurrect the old Dr Hywel Ffiaidd, and where better to do this than in Wrexham? I’m pleased to say that the old crowd are just as enthusiastic – and filthy – as ever, and I’m sure that their original fans and a new generation of followers will have a fantastic time at Maes C on Thursday evening this year.”
Maes C is held at the Clywedog School leisure centre, which is adjacent to the caravan site and the Maes itself. For more information on Maes C, go to www.eisteddfod.org.uk – and you can buy tickets
for the evenings here as well. Tickets are also available by ringing 0845 4090 800, and from the Welcome Pavilion and Mynedfa 2 during the week – if there’s any left.
Lower Berse Farm, off Ruthin Road, Wrexham, is home to the Wrexham and District National Eisteddfod, held from 30 July – 6 August. Organiser are hoping to attract up to 160,000 visitors to this year’s festival.
