Draig Helps Brighten Up School Entrance

Pupils and parents visiting a primary school in Oakdale can now enjoy a bright welcome – thanks to a very colourful sign put up by Caerphilly-based business services group Draig.

Ross Porter, managing director of Draig, which has its own printing division, said: “Many people are finding things hard at present. But as a local business we feel it is important to put something back into the community in which we operate.

“I’ve been really impressed with the work that Michael is doing at the school and we’re pleased to have been able to help to brighten up the pedestrian entrance to Rhiw Syr Dafydd.”

Head Teacher Mike Glavin, pictured  with the new sign, said: “We are very fortunate at Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary to have such a modern, well equipped building that provides a safe, stimulating learning environment for our pupils.

“However, the main pedestrian entrance used by most pupils and parents enters the school site right by the side of our library which is a demountable building.

“A new, bright, colourful sign welcomes children to school each day and reflect more fully the high quality of provision that exists here.

“In the current economic climate, schools will rely more than ever on their links with businesses to provide ‘extras’ such as this.  All associated with the school are most grateful to Draig.”

Last year Draig also donated £800 towards the school’s audio/visual system.
