A new drop in centre has swung open its doors in Llandudno where residents will be able to meet and pick up some top tips from Police and Trading Standards.
Thanks to volunteers and the assistance of local businesses, the former Neighbourhood Watch Shop on Market Street has been re-vamped and transformed into a Drop In Centre.
The centre will be run by three volunteers and will be open to the community from 10am until 2pm Monday to Saturday. It will offer the residents an opportunity to meet up with the volunteers where they can find out more information about setting up Neighbourhood Watch Schemes and Cold Calling Controlled Zones. Police surgeries will also be held at the location where members of the public will be free to discuss any concerns they may have.
Ifan Hughes is a Divisional Crime Reduction Manager (who covers the counties of Conwy and Denbighshire). He was present on Wednesday, February 23, when the centre was officially opened by the Mayor of Llandudno Councillor Ann Yates and the High Sheriff Lady Janet Jones.
Ifan Hughes said: “I am very proud to be part of this initiative. The centre will be run by a team of three volunteers who have supported us in partnership working for the past nine years.
He added: “The idea behind the venture was to provide a place where people could come in talk to the volunteers about the various aspects of community safety and also gain advice. I wish this venture every successful. I am not aware of any such centre in the country which provides this kind of service.”
