Scores of Swansea youngsters have received certificates from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
Young people aged between 14 and 25 gathered at the Liberty Stadium to collect their awards and reflect on their experiences.
Swansea Council runs the Duke of Edinburgh programme locally and welcomes about 700 new enrolments every year.
The awards are split into gold, silver and bronze levels and are facilitated by comprehensive schools, colleges, Swansea University, youth clubs and youth groups.
Young people who take part could find themselves helping in the community, getting fitter, developing skills, forging friendships and going on expeditions. Sixteen young people even had the chance to undertake a 10-day expedition to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco last year thanks to the scheme.
Cllr Alan Lloyd, Swansea Lord Mayor, attended the awards evening.
He said: “The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is a fantastic initiative that offers young people life-changing experiences. It helps to improve their social skills and equips them with qualities that will prove invaluable later in life.”
