Dyfed Powys Police have donated £480 to Fishguard Sea Cadets, using the seized proceeds of crime.
Under the Force’s incentivisation scheme money seized by officers from criminals is reinvested for the benefit of local communities.
The cadets made a successful bid for the funding, which was presented in the form of a cheque, by PCSO Mark John of Fishguard Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), to Commanding Officer, Lt (SCC) Susan Gittins.
Thanks to the funding two cadets from Fishguard will have the opportunity to sail on TS Royalist, which is a tall ship owned and operated as a sailing training ship by the Marine Society and Sea Cadets. Almost every week of the year, 24 cadets from around the UK join the ship and spend a week on board working as part of the team.
PCSO John said: “The Force incentivisation scheme is an effective way of ensuring money generated from crime and seized by police is put to a good causes and is reinvested into the our communities. Each berth on TS Royalist costs £240 and this funding will provide the cadets with a fantastic opportunity to take part in what is a wonderfully educative and life enhancing experience.”
