The RNLI lifeboat at Flint received an early Christmas present in the form of a cheque for £500 raised at Redhall Services Shell Garage through the sale of selling raffle tickets.
The money was raised by Vickie Gibson, of Photography by Morgan, and David Powell of Redhall Services Shell Garage. The prizes were donated by shops and businesses in Flint. In addition to the raffle, there was a bucket collection, children had their photographs taken in a Ferrari, ‘Tena Ladies’ from Britain’s Got Talent did a couple of routines, and the organisers topped up the total to £1000, which was split between the RNLI, and the Cancer Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
Vicky said:
‘My dad was making a video about RNLI SOS Day last January, and I was inspired by a clip featuring Ainsley Popplewell, Chairman of Connahs Quay Fundraising Branch. RNLI SOS Day 2010 is on Friday 29 January, and I would urge people to support the day by organising an event for this worthy cause.’
Alan Forrester, volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager for Flint RNLI lifeboat station, said he was delighted with the donation, and would like to thank the organisers for thinking of the RNLI, and also the shops and businesses in Flint for their support.
Alan added:
‘We are recording donations at this time of year on a special Christmas tree – anybody making a donation will of course have their donations acknowledged, and their names placed on the tree.’
