Ebbw Vale will come alive with colour and vibrance next week when hairdressing students show off nature-inspired creations at the Campus’s annual hair show.
12 students will create an avant-garde look around the theme of earth, wind fire and water and also demonstrate their commercial cutting and colouring techniques.
Tutor Helena Bassett explains more: “The students have been working extremely hard on their design plans to achieve creative images for two different occasions. It’s not just the hair that the students have to work on; they have to create a total look that includes costume, accessories and ornamentation which is a big task to take on. The students are all really excited and have been busy practising. They are developing and enhancing their creative skills – they have some fabulous, very flamboyant ideas!”
The students have been busy researching and designing their looks and they will be given a helping hand from the level 2 beauty therapy students who will be applying their models’ makeup.
Helena continues: “Having the opportunity to take part in a show broadens the students’ horizons and opens their minds to other progression routes within the industry such as a session stylist or theatrical work, so it’s a great way of giving them that opportunity and a nice event at the end of the year that reflects the development of skills that have been learnt over the last 3 years.”
The evening will be topped off with live entertainment from music students at the Campus.
Tickets are just £4 – money raised will be donated to the Eisteddfod and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
