Through the Council-supported Flint-sulate scheme, all households with suitable lofts and cavity walls in the county are eligible for insulation at discounted rates around 65% off the usual price; around £169 for a standard three bed semi detached property, subject to survey.
Residents over 70 or on qualifying benefits can have their loft and cavity wall insulated for free, and partial grants are available for all residents over 60 through the Welsh Assembly Government’s Home Energy Efficiency Scheme.
Loft and cavity wall insulation save an average of £265 a year on heating bills, reduce your household carbon footprint and help keep your home more comfortable all year.
In addition to offering grants for insulation, programmes running locally also identify more vulnerable residents who may qualify for additional support, including grants for central heating where there is none.
Additional support is available in Flintshire through the Health through Warmth and Community Warmth programmes which continue to help reduce fuel poverty in Flintshire. For more information, ring the North Wales Energy Advice Centre on 0800 954 0658.
