The Chairman of Flintshire County Council has presented awards to the winners of this year’s Environment Competitions.
Participation in the event helps to improve the environment of villages and towns throughout Flintshire, encouraging community spirit and improving the appearance of the area.
The winners of the competition met Chairman, Councillor Owen Thomas, at an awards ceremony at County Hall.
The winners for the best kept village with a population of under 1000 were Llanfynydd and Ysceifiog. Pontybodkin was awarded third prize, and Llanasa received a Certificate of Merit.
Caerwys was the winner of the best kept community with a population of over 1000 and under 5000, with Northop and Higher Kinnerton winning second prize. A Certificate of Merit was awarded to Leeswood.
Mold and Holywell were equal winners of the best kept town centre, and Mynydd Isa won a Certificate of Merit.
The best kept senior citizens’ estate was won by Ochor y Bryn in Halkyn, with second prize going to Hafan Deg in Treuddyn. Moel Fammau Road in New Brighton, and Bennetts Lane Estate in Higher Kinnerton came equal third. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Corwen Way, Penyffordd; Stoneleigh Close, Garden City and Bryntirion Estate, Rhewl, Mostyn.
