Environmental Centre first building to open at ‘The Works: Ebbw Vale’

A 21st century Environmental Resource Centre is the first building to be officially opened at ‘The Works: Ebbw Vale’.

The centre – part of the £350 million regeneration of the former steelworks site – was opened by Environment Minister Jane Davidson AM and TV wildlife presenter Iolo Williams.

Coun Des Hillman, Leader of Blaenau Gwent Council, said:

“This centre at The Works will be at the forefront in environmental education for the whole of the Heads of the Valleys.”

Funding was provided by the Welsh Assembly Government, the European Regional Development Fund, Biffaward and Corus. The Works is a joint project between Blaenau Gwent Council and the Welsh Assembly Government.
