European issues will be on the agenda for three Denbighshire schools as students take part in a special parliament being arranged for North Wales schools.
Students from Ysgol Glan Clwyd (St Asaph), Ysgol Brynhyfryd (Ruthin) and Ysgol Dinas Bran (Llangollen) will be taking part in the European Youth Parliament being staged at County Hall, Ruthin on Wednesday, December 2.
They will join their counterparts from Ysgol Friars (Bangor), Llandrillo College (Colwyn Bay), Howell’s School (Denbigh), Elfed High School (Buckley) and Ysgol Penglais (Aberystwyth).
The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is an international initiative enabling young people to engage with European issues. Students represent different committees of the European Parliament and debate topics such as security, human rights, the arts, climate change and immigration.
This year, topics include the UK’s role in Europe, climate change, human rights in Afghanistan and nuclear armament.
The event has been organised by the Council for Education in World Citizenship-Cymru (CEWC-Cymru). Teams of students will compete against each other, with one team selected to go forward to a UK conference which takes place next year.
