A series of free events highlighting the support available to people in rural areas will be held throughout May and June in west Wales.
Shelter Cymru’s pioneering ‘Information matters to rural communities’ project has been running for three years in Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Supported by the Big Lottery Fund, the project works with local organisations to provide practical information on a wide range of issues affecting rural communities.
During May and June the project team will be running free workshops offering local volunteers, community workers and professionals the chance to find out more about the support available on issues such as housing, debt and welfare benefits.
Participants will also be able to discuss particular problems and take part in case study-led sessions with experts from Shelter Cymru.
Project co-ordinator Ceri Wisdom said: “We’ve held lots of information events over the last three years and we’ve always had a really good response. Besides the practical support available, these workshops are also an excellent opportunity for people working in rural communities to get together and share valuable ideas and experience in an informal setting. “
The events will run from 10am – 2pm in the following locations and complimentary lunch and refreshments will be provided.
- Llandysul – 7 May
- Llanelli – 10 May
- Haverfordwest – 14 May
- Aberystwyth – 25 May
- Newcastle Emlyn – 8 June
- Narberth – 15 June
