Pupils from Ynysfach Primary School Resolven were runners up in the primary school category of the first ever national libraries arts competition ” Express Yourself ” which encouraged Neath Port Talbot communities to show off their creative talents based on a theme of libraries.
The Awards ceremony at the Senedd in Cardiff was hosted by Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones. Welsh Libraries Champion, Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones presented the excited year six pupils with a plaque and £100 in vouchers.
Mariesa Thomas, Sian Jones, Grace Owen, Courtney Davies, Danielle Cooper, Megan Evans, Corey Jones-Gittins, Charlotte Edwards, Kiera Morris and Ffion Williams Llewellyn devised and performed an interpretation of a library theme through music and dance.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council Ali Thomas said, ” Neath Port Talbot libraries are at the heart of the community and this prestigious competition gave an opportunity to display their many and varied talents. Many congratulations to the pupils in Year 6 from Ynsfach Primary for illustrating how our libraries can inspire all ages throughout the community.”
