Father Christmas will be wearing his special Fair Trade Santa suit when he visits schools in Rhondda Cynon Taff along with the Environment Minister Jane Davidson this week.
The Fair Trade Santa suit is 100% ethically sourced, made from both Fair Trade materials and Welsh wool donated by the British Wool Marketing Board.
Elen Jones from Fair Trade Wales who is co-ordinating the visit said:
‘It’s a very different suit that Father Christmas is wearing for us this year, showing we can reuse materials and demonstrating how Fair Trade and local produce can work together.’
Father Christmas and Ms Davidson will begin by visiting Ferndale Infants School where they will present the school with a flag for becoming a Fairtrade School.
They will then visit Treorchy Primary School which has strong links with a school in Uganda and where they will be treated to an African exhibition.
Elen Jones said:
‘We must say a big thank you to both Father Christmas and Jane Davidson for taking time out of their busy Christmas schedules to promote Fair Trade and give their support to farmers and producers in developing countries.’
