The Gwynedd Fairtrade Group has launched a competition for hotels and bed and breakfasts. If you run a hotel or B&B and use Fairtrade produce as part of your business then you are qualified to enter the competition.
We are looking for entries from businesses that do their best to promote Fairtrade – enough to maybe encourage visitors to buy Fairtrade after going back home! The winning entry will receive £40, £25, and £10 worth of vouchers from Dwyfor Coffee Company who stock a wide range of Fairtrade products such as coffee, tea, chocolate and juices.
To apply, in no more than 200 words, write a piece describing what Fairtrade produce you use, and any other relevant information and send it to Gwynedd Fairtrade Group, Strategic Direction Department, Gwynedd Council, Shirehall Street, Caernarfon, Gwynedd LL55 1PN or e-mail [email protected] Remember to include your contact details. The closing date is 22 October 2010.
Councillor Wyn Williams, Chairman of the Gwynedd Fairtrade Group, said:
“If your business is yet to start using Fairtrade products, then why not consider choosing Fairtrade next time you make an order for tea, coffee, sugar, orange juice, jam, honey, nuts, flowers, chocolates and so on. The list of produce available is endless.
“It will also be a way to show your support to the cause and could be an extra selling point for your business.
“Fairtrade is all about a better deal for producers in the developing world. Fairtrade has the potential to lift millions out of poverty. Wales is the world’s first Fair Trade Nation and Gwynedd have also received county status. This is a fantastic achievement but it’s only the beginning of our journey towards helping to create a fairer world.”
