Family Bike Festival at Margam Park

Families in Neath Port Talbot are being invited to a Bike Festival at Margam Park this weekend (26th June 11-4pm)

The free event has been organised by the climate change team at Neath Port Talbot Council to coincide with National Bike Week.

The event aims to promote walking and cycling to local people and to reinforce the health benefits that these activities can bring.

There will be two cycle routes which will be marshalled on the day. One is flat and family friendly and the other one is more challenging.

Intandem will be providing specialist equipment for disabled people to try and Friends of Margam Park will provide cycles for hire.

There will be children’s bike ramps, cycle skills training and bike maintenance from Dr. Bike.

Trained volunteers will lead historical walks as well as Nordic Walking taster sessions.

Families can picnic in the Park and there is a treasure hunt for children.

“The local community, families and anyone who wants to get on their bike or go for a walk are invited to join in,” says Council Leader, Ali Thomas.

“This is an exciting event that will promote the health benefits of walking and cycling whilst having a fun family day.”
