The driver of a Red Peugeot 206 who died following a road traffic collision on the Southbound carriageway of the A470 at the weekend has been named as 36-year-old, Joanne Smart, who lived in Cardiff.
The single vehicle collision took place at around 10:15am on Sunday 20th July. Miss Smart suffered serious injuries which later proved fatal.
In a statement Joanne’s Mother, Barbara Richardson and Step Father, Glen Richardson said:
“Joanne, known as Jo by her friends, will be missed by all who knew her. She was a very bubbly person and always lived life to the full. There’s nothing she liked more than to spend time with her family, especially her sisters Amy and Laura and her best friends, Emma, Rebecca and Sarah.
“They were inseparable and would meet up as often as they could. They loved having a good time and would often go for nights out, for meals and to the cinema.
“Jo had a real zest for life and was always willing and happy to help anyone who needed it. At the age of 20 she joined the Royal Fleet Auxiliary as a civilian radio operator and was able to use Morse Code, assisting with requests for emergency supplies for the British Forces. When she moved to Cardiff from County Durham a little over 10 years ago she found a job as a personal assistant at Cardiff University, a job we know she loved.
“Keeping fit was also something that was important to her so she and her friends would always find time to go to Boot Camp.
“Her only other love, who we feel we have to mention was her dog Saxon who she loved and who also loved her dearly.
“As a family we are devastated and completely heartbroken and will cherish all the great times and wonderful memories she gave us.”
