On Sunday 22nd May, 2011 the Bishop of St Asaph will be leading his diocese in bidding farewell to three people who have contributed significantly to the life of the Church in North East and Mid-Wales:
- Mr David Hooson, who has served as Diocesan Registrar and Bishop’s Legal Secretary since 1974.
- The Venerable Malcolm Squires who has served in the Diocese of St Asaph since 1996, first as Rector of Wrexham, and then as Archdeacon of Wrexham and Rector of Llandegla from 2002. For the past year he has served as Bishop’s Chaplain.
- Mrs Glenys Croft who has worked as the Bishop’s Secretary for the past 8 years.
The service on May 22nd will start at 15.30 hrs in St Asaph Cathedral. It will be an opportunity for the Diocese of St Asaph to thank David, Malcolm and Glenys for their dedicated ministries in different aspects of church life, and to pray that the Lord will bless their retirements with peace and fulfilment.
Commenting on the service the Bishop, the Right Reverend Dr Gregory K Cameron says:
“We honour three faithful servants of the diocese, who have served in very different ways: in ministry, in legal matters, in secretarial support for the bishop: but these three have become more than that, they have become friends and trusted counsellors, not just at the centre of the life of the diocese, but to all the family of St Asaph who have worked with them. We give thanks to God for grace given and revealed in so many ways through the steady work and witness of these three.”
