Hundreds of fashionistas transformed Wrexham into the fashion capital of Wales.
The town’s second Fashion Week kicked off in style at the Eagles Meadow shopping centre.
At the Fashion on the Move event, there were five roaming live catwalk shows.
Models made their way through the busy shopping centre to showcase the latest season’s trends.
The shows culminated in a dance routine on the outdoor stage and there were style advice and beauty demonstrations throughout the day.
Fashion Week is part of Wrexham’s Year of Culture programme.
It was given a big thumbs up by Wales’ top fashion expert, the popular TV presenter, Huw Rees.
Huw, better known as Huw Fash to viewers of Wedi 3 and Wedi 7 on S4C, believes it is a great way for the town to underline its credentials as a fashion hot spot.
He said: “What Wrexham Fashion Week is going to do is draw together a lot of different elements of fashion.
“The town is going to be able to see the wealth of fashion expertise and talent they have in their community.”
“I think that Wrexham, with all the investment it has had recently, needs to get itself out there as a style destination and the fashion week is the best and most glamorous way of doing that.”
Huw said the beauty of events such as this is that they benefit the local economy as a whole.
He said: “By making a bold statement like this, you are encouraging people who care about style and fashion to visit the town.
“They won’t just be buying clothes, but buying in other businesses too and perhaps most importantly, buying into the fact the Wrexham is worth coming to as a shopping centre, which it most definitely is.”
Eagles Meadow Marketing Manager Sally Mulliner was delighted with the Fashion on the Move event which gave some of the shopping centre’s stores the opportunity to show off their new ranges of adult and children’s clothes.
She said: “Next, M&S, Debenhams, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, Mountain Warehouse, Bank, Topshop, Topman, Gozo, Boots and River Island all took part.
“We have had a brilliant day. It’s great to see so many people enjoying their shopping experience here at Eagles Meadow. The whole event has been a huge success.”
Huw encouraged people to visit and take part in Wrexham Fashion Week and said there is nothing like the excitement and fun of live catwalk shows, particularly one which showcases clothes you may actually buy for yourself.
He added: “As much as it is great watching London Fashion Week on the TV with all the super skinny models and the really avant-garde designers, fashion really revolves around mainstream buyers spending their money on the great items you can get on the high street.
“That’s why events like Wrexham Fashion Week are so important because they are a chance for people to see the great wealth of style which the high street and shopping destinations like Wrexham have to offer.”
