Fatal Road Traffic accident on M4: Police appeal

At 2330 hours on Monday 17 January a fatal road traffic collision occurred at the westbound carriageway of the M4 motorway between junctions 32 and 33 to the North West of Cardiff.

One vehicle was involved namely a red Peugeot 406. Two persons were killed a male in his fifties and a female in her twenties.

A male in his twenties was in a critical condition at the University Hospital of Wales but has since died.

A female in her fifties and a six month old baby with less serious injuries have also been taken to the University Hospital of Wales.

All casualties were from the Porthcawl area.

The Coroner has been informed and liaison officers are supporting the next of kin.

Any witnesses to the  collision  or who saw the Peugeot vehicle beforehand are asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In particular police wish to speak urgently to a couple who are believed to have stopped momentarily after the collision.
