Friday, 29th October 2010 is FEEL GOOD FRIDAY at Y Morfa Leisure Centre, Kinmel Bay from 10am.
Following the successful publication of 50 Plus with North Wales Newspapers you can now visit the live roadshow version. The day will offer professional advice, contact with services to support you or someone you care for, new activities for you to try and fitness checks – all in an informal setting.
Feel Good Friday has been organised by a partnership of Conwy and Denbighshire’s statutory, voluntary and community organisations; there will be about 35 stands and exhibits providing information on such things as benefit advice, stress relief and carer support. Find out how food can affect mood or how to eat healthily on a budget. Have a go at Tai Chi or Chair-obics; learn how to cope with stress; get advice about debt. Find out what the Adult Youth Club Do! Or join the audience to watch the Cat’s Paws community theatre original production of ‘The Light Bulb’.
The event will be open to all residents of Conwy, who want to improve their health and wellbeing, however the day is being particularly aimed at the over 50s and supporting older people to be more safe and independent.
The Day will be launched by the Older People’s Champion Cllr David Holland. He said, “An important part of the day will be workshops looking at how well we are getting the message across to help prevent people from falling. We want to put together a way of getting people to take more care and be healthier so they stay upright.”
On the day there will be two ‘Be Upright – Be Bright’ workshops; in the morning a group of over 50s will explore the issues around falls prevention and in the afternoon they will look at how the messages can be improved. We have some of the answers but we need you to tell us what the stops people taking care and being safe and how we can help them stay upright.
And to finish the day there will be music and song to dance to or just unwind until 4pm. Refreshments will be available all day.
