Two young mothers-turned entrepreneurs celebrated the first birthday of their new business venture in style.
Helen Mort and Lisa Hinze set up Business Essentials to provide a book-keeping service “with a difference” for businesses who can’t afford to run their own accounts department.
The company is being backed by Chartered Accountants Coxeys, who have offices in Wrexham and Saltney.
It’s proving so successful that they have taken on three freelance staff to help cope with the workload.
Helen and Lisa invited Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths, who is also the Deputy Minister for Science, Innovation and Skills, to join them for their first anniversary party.
The AM had been a guest of honour at the launch of Business Essentials 12 months previously.
She said: “I am delighted that these two young female entrepreneurs are just going from strength to strength and employing more and more people.
“Coxeys have shown faith in them as well which has been important. They’re standing on their own two feet now and they are excellent role models who are showing what can be achieved.
“They have obviously found a niche because there’s a demand for their services and they’re now taking on new clients as the result of recommendations from satisfied customers.”
“What they have achieved in just one year is fantastic,” she added.
Lisa was delighted that the AM was able to return for the first anniversary celebrations
She said: “Things are going really well. Everything has taken off and we’re very busy and we seem to have hit the right kind of level for our client base and seem to be offering the right kind of services in the current climate.
“We seem to have pitched it right in terms of cost and the level of service that we’re offering.
“We’re trying to give clients good added value and tailoring our service to what they actually want and need for their business.
“Clients can cherry pick the services they need which makes it a very cost-effective service from their point of view.
“We also have the added backup of the colleagues here at Coxeys which means we have a great deal of expertise at our disposal covering a whole range of specialist areas.
Helen was also thrilled with the progress made by Business Essentials in their first year.
She said: “It has been a very successful first year and I think we’ve exceeded our expectations.
“We’ve managed to recruit three more freelance members of staff and the fact that we’re receiving recommendations hopefully says a lot about the quality of the service that we’re offering.
“It’s onwards and upwards now as we’ve established ourselves as a fully fledged business.
“We’re particularly grateful to Lesley Griffiths who has been an inspiration from the outset.
“She is very interested in what we’re doing and it’s lovely to have her support.”
