Choirs will soon be singing seasonal carols around a sparkling 20-foot Christmas tree at Swansea’s Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
The activity is one of many set to entertain visitors in the build-up to Christmas at the Alexandra Road attraction.
Parklands Primary School in Sketty kicks-off the fun on Wednesday December 16 at 1pm.
Members of the Swansea Bach Choir, Loughor Town Choir and the Ariosa singers from Oystermouth will then take it in turns to raise the gallery’s roof from 1pm on December 22 and December 23.
Christmas workshops are being arranged for children from Saturday December 19 to Wednesday December 23 that include poet John Bilsborough and artists Ruth McLees and David Lee on hand to help create small books, tree decorations and comics.
Two new exhibitions are also being introduced to the gallery from the weekend.
Buried by Willie Doherty runs in the main gallery together with the very moving Ghost Story until February 14. The exhibition features videos and photography relating to the political context of his home town of Derry in Northern Ireland. It’s already been well-received earlier this year in Edinburgh and Venice.
Recent Acquisitions by Peter Finnemore runs in room one until February 7 with a special screening of videos that address themes such as globalisation, territory and Welsh identity.
All the events and exhibitions are free to attend.
Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “The workshops, exhibitions and other events upcoming at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery illustrate its broad appeal.
“The carol singing will generate a terrific atmosphere and the festive workshops and exhibitions will respectively entertain children and adults keen on seeing the world in a different light.”
