Over 200 people started their Christmas celebrations by joining Denbighshire County Council for its annual carol service, raising £330 for charity.
The event, which took place at St Asaph Cathedral on Wednesday, 2 December, included a duet and a solo by council staff; a trio from Ysgol Brynhyfryd sang “In the Bleak Midwinter” and a saxophone ensemble from Ysgol Brynhyfryd played a medley of Christmas songs. The final musical item was from the newly formed Denbighshire County Council Choir who sang two items in Welsh and English.
Traditional Christmas lessons were read by members of council staff and councillors.
Chairman of Denbighshire, Cllr Joan Butterfield, said, “We were delighted to have so many people attend the service to celebrate Christmas with the council. We are also delighted to have raised £330 for my chosen charity Cancer Research UK – Breast Cancer. The council is delighted to offer the collection from the service to this worthy cause.”
