Denbighshire’s planning committee has rejected an application for the development of land in Rhyl for a residential care home, day nursery and community centre.
The application by T Anwyl & Son Ltd for the development off Ffordd Elan, Rhyl was recommended to be refused by planning officers. Members of the planning committee agreed with the recommendation and the application was refused on the grounds that the applicant had not adequately demonstrated that the flood risks at the site could be dealt with.
Members of the planning committee were also concerned that the intended residential care home would not serve the immediate community and would fail to meet the intended designation of the site for the provision of community facilities.
Over 1,100 individual letters of objections were received from members of the public.
