Residents across Caerphilly County Borough are being encouraged to look out for the TSSEW Trustmark logo when choosing a tradesman to carry out work to their property.
Trustmark is a Government backed initiative, which helps homeowners to find reliable and trustworthy tradesmen to carry out repairs and improvements to the inside and outside of their home.
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Trading Standards team has joined forces with Trading Standards teams from Monmouthshire County Council, Newport City Council and Torfaen County Borough Council to promote the Trading Standards South East Wales Trustmark (TSSEW) Scheme.
Businesses who become members of the scheme undertake to operate their business in a legal, honest and fair way and are vetted and monitored by Trading Standards and Exor Management Services Limited.
Cllr Rob Gough, Cabinet Member for Public Protection, Engineering and Transport said, “Choosing a reputable trader to carry out work on your home can be a daunting process. The Trustmark scheme aims to make this process easier for residents, by providing reassurance that Trustmark accredited traders have been vetted, and operate their business in a legal, honest and fair way”.
Trustmark approved traders are vetted in the following ways:
- Checked by Trading Standards to ensure they are reliable and reputable
- Every firm’s technical skills have been independently checked through on-site inspections
- Quality of work, trading practices and customer satisfaction are monitored
- Checks on trading records and firms’ financial status
- Firms are able to offer an insurance backed warranty
- Clear and user-friendly complaints procedure should you need it
Carl Phillips, Managing Director of CP General Services Limited, a Trustmark approved business said, “In the current financial climate any opportunity that arises to give a competitive edge must be utilised. Our excellent customer service record can only benefit from having Trading Standards approval – the Trustmark scheme does help customers have peace of mind when choosing a company to complete works.”
