Find out about services for older people in GwyneddFind out about services for older people in Gwynedd.
Gwynedd Council will be holding a number of open days to show what equipment is available to enable older people to live independently in their own homes.
The information and demonstration sessions will be held at:
- Dolfeurig Centre, Dolgellau on Tuesday, 6 March, 1-4pm
- Maesincla Centre, Caernarfon on Wednesday, 7 March, 1-4pm
- Frondeg Centre, Pwllheli on Tuesday, 13 March, 1-4pm
It will be an opportunity for older people, their families or carers to drop by for an informal chat to find out what is available and how it could help them to be more comfortable and feel safer at home.
Councillor Wyn Williams, Gwynedd Council’s Social Services Portfolio Leader, said: “People are telling us time after time that they want to stay in their own homes for as long as possible as they get older. The Council has therefore developed a range of services which can support people as they get older and maybe their health deteriorates.
“For example, the Telecare system includes gadgets around the home which can raise the alarm should a person fall ill, suffer an injury or be in danger. The Council can also help with equipment around the home which can make everyday tasks such as cooking and going up stairs so much easier for those who suffer mobility problems. This sort of support can give great peace of mind and also enable vulnerable people to continue to live happy and content lives.
“I would urge anyone who is suffering because of ill health or following an injury – or maybe even those who are starting to think now about how they want to live in the future – and their family or friends, to call by one of the open days for a brew and a chat.”
All are welcome to drop by the session, a free cup of tea or coffee is on offer.
