Two very important guests will be attending a Christmas fair which organisers hope will raise hundreds of pounds for a community theatre.
Fireman Sam and Norman Price from the hit children’s television series will be at this year’s Christmas fair at Stiwt Theatre.
The popular characters will meet children and their families attending the fair on Friday (November 18) from 6 pm at the theatre in Broad Street, Rhos. near Wrexham.
Theatre Manager Rebecca Griffiths was delighted to welcome the new guests and urged families to come along and support the fair which is one of the vital fundraisers in Stiwt’s calendar.
Rebecca said: “We have to raise £10,000 a year to ensure we receive other vital funding from other sources which allows us to stay open.
“Being at the heart of the community we look to involve local people as much as possible in helping us do this and the Christmas fair is always a well attended event and always well supported by families.
“This year, with our VIPs, we are hoping it will be better attended than ever.”
There will be a variety of different stalls at the fair selling Christmas gifts and cards giving a chance for visitors to start their shopping for the festive period. There will also be a tombola, refreshments and other attractions.
After meeting their favourite television characters, children will be able to visit Santa Claus, who will be at his grotto for the entire event ready to receive present requests for Christmas Day.
There are a wide range of performances to be enjoyed at the theatre in the run up to Christmas, culminating in this year’s pantomime, The Wizard O Rhos Uffe’n.
The production is the brainchild of one of the village’s favourite sons, Stifyn Parri, star of stage and screen, who has appeared in Brookside and played the lead role of Marius in the West End production of Les Miserables.
He challenged the community of Rhos to write, cast, stage, publicise and create their very own pantomime.
Cameras have been following the show’s progress and the final result will be shown on S4C on Christmas Day.
