Aberystwyth RNLI inshore rescue boat launched on service yesterday (9 January 2012) at 7.31pm, at the request of HM Coastguard, following reports that a dog had jumped into the harbour by St David’s Wharf and that its owner had tried to rescue the dog.
The volunteer RNLI crew members on the inshore rescue boat arrived on scene to find that the dog and its owner were together but unable to climb the wharf ladder to safety. Both the dog and its owner were taken onboard the rescue boat and returned to Aberystwyth lifeboat station where the dog was dried and the owner checked for any injuries.
The inshore rescue boat was then rehoused, ready for another service.
