Newly recruited Police Cadets in Porthmadog have undertaken their first duty for North Wales Police – by assisting with issuing crime prevention advice.

Last week, the Porthmadog District latest recruits of Police Cadets, along with local Police Community Support Officers, attended the annual late night shopping event at Criccieth, to assist with the distribution of crime prevention leaflets to local shopkeepers and their customers.

It was a good opportunity for the cadets – Adam Williams, Elis Gwyn and Robart Griffiths to explain their role to members of the public and also for them to gain valuable experience.

PCSO Paul Duggan said: “It‘s always good to have a chance of promoting crime prevention in Criccieth, especially at this busy time of year, when we are all tempted to leave our presents and parcels on display in our vehicles whilst shopping.

“The night itself passed without incident and was well attended by the community. It was very encouraging that the cadets were prepared to give up their time to help the community and all three are a good example to us all.”
