The winner of the Pembrokeshire Fish Week Photography Competition 2010 has been announced as Tim Barrett of Milford Haven.
There were 150 entries submitted for the competition, which was for amateur photographers and had the theme ‘Coast’.
Tim’s photograph, entitled ‘Pendine Holidaymakers’ scooped the 1st prize – £100 plus a day in the studio with Ian Richards of Pembrokeshire Photography to transform his image into a canvas.
In second place was Chris Mole of West Sussex with his photograph ‘Walking on Freshwater West’, who wins dinner for two at Wolfscastle Country Hotel.
The winner of the third prize was Trevor Theobald of Spittal for his image, entitled Lesser Black Backed Gull. Trevor wins a copy of the book ‘Pembrokeshire’ by county photographer David Wilson.
Commended were ‘A belter of a view’ by Judi James, ‘Coastal Fun’ by Claire Stubbs, and ‘Puffin’ by Andrew Theobald.
The judges were Barbara Simon, Head of Photography at Pembrokeshire College, Ian Richards ABIPP of Pembrokeshire Photography, and David Wilson, of David Wilson Photography.
“We were absolutely delighted with the number of entries this year and the excellent standard of photography,” said Kate Morgan, Food Officer for Pembrokeshire County Council and organiser of Fish Week.
“The judges were of the view that the winning photographs were of an exceptionally high standard, and our congratulations go to the winners and those who were commended.”
The competition was open to all amateur photographers over the age of 15.
Pembrokeshire Fish Week, which will take place between 26th June and 4th July is organised by Pembrokeshire County Council.
The event is part funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013, which is financed by the EU and the Welsh Assembly Government.
