Fishguard lifeboat helps fishing boat in trouble

The fishing boat Providing Star, a 12 metre steel scalloper, returning from a hard night’s work rammed the northern breakwater of Fishguard Harbour in the early hours of Wednesday 21 December.

Fortunately the three crew members were not injured and were able to raise the alarm resulting in both Fishguard RNLI lifeboats being tasked at 5.10am.

The fishing boat was holed and taking in seawater.

The all-weather lifeboat provided a pump and the Providing Star made her own way to the harbour quay wall to await being craned out of the water later in the day to enable repairs to be made.

Both lifeboats were back on station by 6.30 and readied for future deployment.
