Five Arrests Follow Disorder At Pub, Penarth

Police in the Vale of Glamorgan are appealing for witnesses to an incident which occurred at the Railway Hotel, Plymouth Road in Penarth shortly after 11.00pm last night (Sunday December 12).

Police officers were called to deal with a fight which had broken out at the premises and considerable violence was directed towards the officers.  Five men were arrested for violent disorder.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or for any information about the behaviour of the arrested men before they arrived at the Railway Hotel.  In addition police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed other disturbances at the same premises on the two previous nights.

Vale police commander, Superintendent Jay Dave said: ”This was an extremely unusual and violent incident.  A number of our police officers were injured while dealing with it and some required hospital treatment.

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and five men have been arrested.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have seen these people at other premises before they arrived at the Railway Hotel last night.”

The five men arrested include a 36 year old man from Barry, two men aged 18 and 41 from Tonyrefail and two men aged 23 and 26 from Hensol.
