Five RNLI lifeboats are currently out searching for a fisherman reported missing from his vessel in the early hours this morning. Both Holyhead and Porthdinllaen all-weather lifeboats were requested to launch at 2:35am when Holyhead Coastguard received a Mayday call from a fishing vessel after a crewmember was reported missing.
Volunteer crew of Trearddur Bay’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat were requested to launch at 3:50am, as well as Trearddur Bay and Holyhead’s RNLI inshore lifeboats at 8:44am. The lifeboats joined RAF Sea King helicopter, Coastguard, the casualty vessel as well as 4 other vessels in the search for the missing man.
The crewmember was last seen at 12:45am and reported missing at 2:30am. Weather conditions were very good last night with calm seas and little wind. Sea temperature was 8 degrees.
