Police are continuing to appeal for information following the spate of arson attacks in Flint last week.
A total of six deliberate fires were reported to North Wales Police and all were believed to have occurred over a two-day period, between Sunday, 27th and Monday, 28th September in the Cornist / Windsor Drive area.
Inspector David Roome said: “The key to finding those responsible lies in the community of Cornist Park. I have no doubt that the perpetrators live locally, and people know who they are. I appeal to the public to provide us with the information we need to ensure no further distressing attacks take place. Any amount of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, may be vital.”
He continued, “I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a group of young males in the Conway Close area on the night of Monday, 28th September at around 7.30pm, or later in the Greenbank Drive and Brushwood Avenue areas just after 8pm.”
Police have also re-opened their investigations into a number of other offences of arson that occurred in the same area between July and September last year.
Insp Roome added: “There are indications these offences are linked to those that happened in Cornist Park last week. This is now an extensive investigation being run from Flint Police Station, with a dedicated enquiry team of officers allocated to it, supported by PCSOs and specialist resources.
“We are doing our utmost to keep residents safe, in conjunction with colleagues from the Fire and Rescue Service, but we need the public’s help too.”
Anybody who may have information regarding these incidents is asked to contact officers at Flint Police Station on 101, if you are calling from Wales, or 0845 607 1001 ( Welsh language line), 0845 607 1002 ( English language line) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
