Flint RNLI lifeboat called to ski boat in difficulty

Liverpool Coastguard requested the assistance of Flint RNLI lifeboat on Monday (9 April) following a call from the occupants of a ski boat which had suffered ignition problems on the River Dee, opposite the Airbus factory.

Flint volunteer lifeboat crew were alerted at 3.40pm, and launched at Connahs Quay and was alongside the casualty at 4pm, all four occupants, the driver, and three skiers appeared safe and well, and were taken aboard the lifeboat and were landed at Connah’s Quay with the ski boat.

Alan Forrester, Flint RNLI volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, said:

‘When the lifeboat returned to Connahs Quay the difficult part started, because of the state of the tide the boats had to be dragged through a lot of mud, and this took us an hour. Everybody and everything was made safe at 5.30pm, the lifeboat arrived back at Flint at 5.55pm.’
