Events get underway with a schools textile exhibition by visual artist, Cefyn Burgess, who has been working with pupils from Ysgol Llanfynydd, Ysgol Glanrafon and Ysgol Brynford to design and create material collages representing historic buildings in their community. That exhibition is being displayed, with free entry, at the Education Gallery, Clwyd Theatr Cymru, until 8 April.

On Sunday 13 March, harpist Catrin Finch, described as ‘The Queen of Harps’ will be performing at Clwyd Theatr Cymru. Her many recordings range from solo classical recitals and concertos through to an eclectic cross-over mix. Catrin’s most recent project takes some of Wales’ most popular traditional melodies and presents them using electric harps, state of the art technology and groundbreaking sound effects.

Flintshire’s most talented young singers and musicians, including the Senior County Youth Choir, String Orchestra, Wind Orchestra and Jazz Band will be performing there.

The Clwyd Room, at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, will house an evening of jazz on Tuesday 22 March, featuring internationally renowned saxophonist Alan Barnes and trumpet player Bruce Adams, who are appearing with Welsh jazz guitarist Trefor Owen and the Bill Coleman Trio. The evening is organised in association with the North Wales Jazz Society.

The Clwyd Room is also the venue for Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, who will be reading her poetry there on Saturday 26 March.

Finally, the festival closes on Sunday 27 March with a musical extravaganza at Bethesda Chapel in Mold, where Tara Bethan, in the company of some of Flintshire’s best voices, will entertain us in a bilingual evening of song with participation from the audience.
