Flintshire agencies working together to reduce alcohol fuelled crime

Licence holders in Flintshire have been given an insight into the effects of alcohol misuse.

Over 40 representatives from the licensed trade together with speakers from the Fire Service, Gambling Commission, Young Person’s Drug and Alcohol Team, National Pubwatch and Trading Standards attended a recent licensing workshop, held for ‘On-Licence’ holders.

The session was funded by the Community Safety Partnership, and aimed to assist licence holders in their understanding of the legal requirements of their business, and to highlight the importance of the Police, Flintshire County Council and other partners working together with licence holders to promote the licensing objectives.

The highlight of the event was an honest and heartfelt account of personal alcohol misuse by a young Flintshire resident.

Inspector Martin Best said: “Those licence holders who attended the session would have gained valuable knowledge regarding legislative requirements, and would certainly have had a stark reminder of the effects of alcohol misuse.”

He added: “My thanks to all that attended the event. The evening was a great success and highlighted to partners who are in a position to help influence change the effects and the issues relating to alcohol abuse and alcohol fuelled crime.”
