This year’s Flintshire Council managed Business Week, is the biggest yet, with 60 events packed into 14 days. Highlights will include A Business Awards evening, free seminars and workshops, a Westminster reception and a rural experience day.
On October 5th, Flintshire Business Week will be launched at Deeside College. For the next 14 days, there will be business related events happening all over the county – and beyond.
This is all part of Flintshire Council’s business support plans for its county companies. With 34% of its residents working in manufacturing, the recession has been a big worry for everyone. The business week project, which started in 2007, aims to help businesses network and do business locally. It also aims to help educate and inform business owners of the latest trends, techniques and best practices found in business today.
The whole project is being funded by regional businesses through sponsorship. Many companies are giving their time while many of the local venues have given their services freely. In a time when many other similar events are being cut back, Flintshire business week promises to be the best event of its type for business in Wales.
Highlights are many and varied, but there promises to be something for every business. There is programme of events available on the Flintshire Council Website. Popular days will be the Business Awards evening, the Westminster reception sponsored by David Hanson MP, the North Wales Media factory tour, the Funding for Growth lunch at Airbus, The Chamber of Commerce exporting seminar, and the last day which will be the Rural Experience day at the Welsh College of Horticulture on the 18th of October!
Last year’s winner of Flintshire Business Person of the Year was Comtek’s group chairman, Askar Sheibani. He was confident that the parliamentary event in 2008 helped Comtek to substantially increase its sales to customers who attended the event.
Askar said, “these types of business events are rare, attractive to the senior executives of targeted companies and are extremely good value for money. I would encourage Flintshire Businesses to participate in this year’s event and use it as a wonderful opportunity to entertain and impress the senior executives from major customers.”
A long time supporter of the project was Councillor Mel Higham, who tragically died last week. In honour of his work, the event is being dedicated to his memory.
