Flintshire Countryside Service has donated a community tool chest to school pupils to say thank you for helping to improve the local environment.
Three years ago, Connah’s Quay High School adopted a site on Rock Road in the town, known locally as the Rock, as part of a drive for pupils to contribute to enhancing the quality of life for the local community and to learn about the countryside.
Students at the school have assisted Flintshire Countryside Service’s coastal rangers with clean up activities at the Rock and they have taken an active role in improving the environment and habitat for wildlife.
In recognition of the long term commitment from the school, Flintshire Countryside Service has donated a community tool chest to assist the pupils with their activities. The kit consists of garden forks and spades, garden hoes, bow saws, lopper and litter pickers.
Mary Daniels, Family Liaison Worker at Connah’s Quay High said: “The learners at Connah’s Quay High School are always willing to engage in community work and having the tool chest will enable us to further progress our community involvement.”
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Cabinet Member for Environment said: “The school has made a great commitment, not only to the rangers but to helping the environment. This gesture from the rangers will give children the chance to get involved in the project for years to come and provide a brilliant learning opportunity for the pupils.”
