The Flintshire Federation of Tenant and Resident Groups is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
The Federation is an umbrella organisation for locally based tenant, resident and community groups. They meet each month to discuss topical issues, engage in consultation regarding budget setting, priorities for change and policy issues. The group also provides support for each of the member groups. It also has affiliate membership for interested individuals and other community groups with similar aims.
The organisation also holds training events and has more recently launched a website, www.flintshirefederation.org.uk to encourage people who don’t want to attend meetings to access information and advice that would be of interest to them.
Councillor Helen Brown, Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
“Congratulations to the Federation of Tenant and Resident Groups for reaching its tenth anniversary. To think that it started with just six groups in 2002, and has now grown to include 16 groups! The Federation has gone from strength to strength in the last decade and I wish it continued success.”
Shelley Webber, from the Flintshire Federation, said:
“I have been the Treasurer of the Federation from the beginning and have seen the organisation grow in confidence and skills both personally and professionally each year. The Federation work tirelessly alongside the Council to help improve the service to tenants, help develop new ideas and give tenants a voice. We hope to carry on all the great work for the next 10 years and more.”
