Flintshire schools, high schools, artists and residents are coming forward with a variety of creative pieces for a county exhibition marking Holocaust Memorial Day 2011, which takes place on Thursday 27 January 2011.
The display of this inspired response on the theme of ‘Untold Stories’ will take place at Holywell Arts & Craft Mill, Greenfield Road on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 27, 28 and 29 January. The Arts, Culture and Events team will be accepting exhibition entries; written compositions, photographs and artwork at Library Headquarters, County Hall, Mold until 5:00pm Monday 24 January.
There will be a private viewing by invitation and official launch of the exhibition on Thursday 27 January at 1:00pm. As part of a North and South Wales joint effort, the private view will be followed by the premiere of a new film being shown in both regions, ‘Winston Churchill: Walking with Destiny’, a movie which has been freshly released from the Simon Weisenthal Centre for Holocaust Studies.
Twenty-eight pictures on the Untold Stories theme created by years 5 and 6 from Drury Primary School have been copied and sent to the main Welsh Exhibition in Glamorgan together with photographs and writing sent in by local residents. A large poster produced by Bryn Deva Primary School in Connah’s Quay has also been copied and sent to the main exhibition.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Thursday morning from 10:00am – 12:30pm, Friday afternoon from 3:00pm – 4:00pm, Saturday morning from 10:00am – 1:00pm and Saturday afternoon from 3:00pm – 4:00pm. There will also be free public screenings of the movie on Friday and Saturday 28 and 29 January at 1:00pm.

The film is not suitable for children as it contains distressing images. All children under 16 attending the exhibition should be accompanied by an appropriate adult.
