Councillor Arnold Woolley has been re-appointed Leader of Flintshire County Council with Councillor Tony Sharps as Deputy Leader.
Councillor Woolley, who represents the Buckley Bistre East electoral division has been a member of the Council since 2004 and Leader since May 2008.
A former UK and colonial police officer, who ran his own security firm until he retired, Councillor Woolley is also a member of Buckley Town Council.
He is a corporate member of the Chartered Management Institute. He was also Chairman of the Chester and Clwyd branch committee of the Institute of Industrial Management for three years.
Councillor Woolley is also a member of Zero Waste Alliance UK and a member of GIA – Global Alternative to Incineration Alliance.
He is a voluntary director of CAB Flintshire, a committee member of Welsh Border Community Transport and a school governor at Southdown School, Buckley.
In addition to his role as Leader, he continues to hold the Executive portfolio for Finance and Asset Management.
Councillor Sharps, who represents the Northop Hall electoral division, has been a member of the Council since 1999 and Chaired the Council’s Licensing Committee. In addition to his role as Deputy Leader, which he has held since May 2008, he is also the Executive member for Environment. He is also Chairman of Taith (the regional Transport Consortium for North Wales), as well as Chairman of the Mersey Dee Alliance.
A member of the former Clwyd County Council and Delyn Borough Council of which he was Leader, he is also a former Chairman of Northop Community Council. He has been a local councillor for 45 years.
