From October onwards, for one year, the Flintshire Record Office is to pilot opening on the second Saturday of each month.
During the week that the Office is open on a Saturday (opening hours will be between 10am and 2pm), it will be closed all day on the Wednesday. In all other weeks opening hours will not change.
The pilot project will start on 9 October 2010.
Please note that appointments always need to be booked in advance. On Saturdays, original documents will be available only if ordered by 12 noon on Friday. Photocopies and other forms of copying will not be available on the day but can be ordered to be picked up at an agreed time or to be posted.
Flintshire County Council’s principal archivist, Claire Harrington, said:
“We are really keen to ensure that everyone has access to the Flintshire Record Office. The aim of this pilot is to make our service accessible to people who find it difficult to visit during normal office hours. Towards the end of the pilot we will evaluate how many people have used it, to judge whether to continue it.”
