There was much celebration in Flintshire as the classes of 2010 received their A Level results. As the Local Authority received the aggregate results from the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) figures showed that for examinations taken with the Welsh board an impressive 99.4% of entries received pass grades, an increase on the Flintshire 2009 figure of 98.7% at the same stage.
Once again, the Flintshire pass rate with the Welsh board compares well with the ‘A’ Level Pass rate for the Wales as a whole, which at 97.1% is the lower than the 2009 figure of 97.6%. For the whole of the UK the pass rate is 97.6%
17.5% of Flintshire WJEC entries resulted in A* and A Grades compared to 23.7% in 2009, and 24.4% across Wales as a whole. Approximately half of the total of Flintshire entries at advanced level are with the Welsh Board and results from other boards are received later in the day.

“These results clearly reflect the dedication that Flintshire’s students show towards their studies. I congratulate them all, and commend their teachers and parents for the support which I know they have offered to the students. The results are, once again, good news for Flintshire.”
