Organisers behind this year’s Swimathon in Flintshire are encouraging as many swimmers as possible to come and take part.
Swimathon 2011 is a nationwide sponsored swim and Flintshire’s event is on Sunday 10 April at Mold Leisure Centre. This year’s charity is Marie Curie Cancer Research.
Each swimmer is given up to two hours to complete their swim and they can choose from a selection of distances – the individual challenges are 1.5k, 2.5k or the ultimate 5k. Groups can take part in the Team 5k challenge.
There will be two Swimathon sessions at the Mold Leisure Centre pool on Sunday 10 April. The first is from 11am to 1pm, and the afternoon session is from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
Wes Billings, organiser of the Flintshire Swimathon, said:
“This is a great opportunity for swimmers of all ages to raise money for a very worthwhile charity.
“Last year, our swimmers raised over £4000 at the Mold Swimathon, and we’re really keen to beat that total this year.
“We’re encouraging everyone to apply for the event by going to www.swimathon.org”
